CAIRO, Nov 28 (Aswat Masriya)  – One student was killed and another was wounded in clashes between security forces and protesters near Cairo University on Thursday, an Aswat Masriya eyewitness said.

Mohamed Reda Ismail, freshman student at Cairo University, died following clashes the erupted when the security forces fired teargas bombs to disperse a protest set against the new protest law.

The new law that was approved by the army-backed interim government on Sunday largely restricts the right to peaceful assembly and bans protests if its organizers did not notify the authorities of them by a three-day notice.

The protests, organized by supporters of deposed Islamist President Mohamed Mursi, also denounced a verdict issued Wednesday that sentenced 21 women for 11 years in prison on charges of obstructing traffic during an earlier protest.

A number of students attacked a car vehicle that passed outside university campus and destroyed its front windows.
