Caretaker Prime Minister Kamal El-Ganzouri stated in front of the Shura Council Wednesday that his Cabinet “faced challenges no other government in Egypt has before" working through the difficult political transition period.

During the discussion of the economic and social development plan the government drew up for the next financial year 2012/2013, El-Ganzouri said one of the main priorities was national security.

“However, we still have other focuses like the difference in needs between farmers, workers, teachers and working women," the prime minister added.

The former Mubarak minister is currently head of Egypt’s caretaker government until newly elected president Mohamed Morsi appoints new ministers, after swearing into office.

His Cabinet presented its resignation to the Supreme Council of the Armed Force (SCAF) last Monday after the presidential elections results were announced.

El-Ganzouri was appointed as Egypt's premier in November 2011. His Cabinet faced months of criticism from the now-defunct People’s Assembly who had unsuccessfully attempted to have it dissolved by pushing for a vote of no- confidence.
