CAIRO, Jan 25 (Aswat Masriya) – The militant group Ajnad Misr claimed responsibility for an explosion which occurred outside a sports club in Cairo earlier on Sunday, injuring two policemen.

Sunday marks the fourth anniversary of the January 2011 uprising which toppled the regime of former President Hosni Mubarak.

In anticipation of protests commemorating the anniversary, security measures across Cairo have been heightened, specifically around major squares. Army forces maintained their shutdown of Tahrir Square for the second day in a row on Sunday.

"Despite adopted security measures and precautions, we got to them to prove their vulnerability and disability," Ajnad Misr – Soldiers of Egypt - said on a twitter account believed to belong to the militant group.

Ajnad Misr has claimed responsibility for several other bombing attacks in the capital. It claimed responsibility for another bombing attack which injured five police conscripts and a female civilian in Cairo late Friday.

Two "terrorists" were killed in Beheira when an explosive device they were planting below an electric pylon exploded, the ministry of interior said.
