CAIRO, August 1 (Aswat Masriya) – Egyptian mediated Palestinian-Israeli truce talks are still on despite ceasefire collapse, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shukri said on Friday.

"Egypt has not received any official withdrawal notices from either side," Shukri told Aswat Masriya.

"The Israeli government has not formally notified the Foreign Ministry of abandoning the negotiations," he added.

Israeli forces have resumed military operations in Gaza following the kidnap of one of its soldiers hours after both sides agreed to a humanitarian truce.

"Egypt expects both sides to commit to the ceasefire before talks can begin as announced in the joint statement by U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon Thursday," Shukri affirmed.

He also denied informing Hamas of Israeli withdrawal from talks.

"The Palestinian delegation has been formed and is expected to arrive in Cairo in a few hours," confirmed Shukri.

Egypt invited Palestinian and Israeli governments earlier on Friday to send delegations to Cairo to discuss Gaza crisis, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on its official Facebook page.

"Egypt emphasizes the importance of both sides committing to the ceasefire to hold the negotiations under favorable conditions and reach the desired results," the statement added.

Both delegations are expected to fly to Cairo to discuss a "long-term" truce.
