Egypt's stock market dips by 1.03 pct after morning rise

CAIRO, Feb 14 (Aswat Masriy) – The Egyptian stock market's benchmark index EGX 30 retreated by 1.03 per cent by the end of trading on Sunday.

The benchmark index declined to reach 5,753 points compared to 5,814 points at the beginning of trading. Meanwhile, secondary indices EGX 70 and EGX 100 hiked by 0.69 and 0.25 per cent, respectively.

The market capital of listed companies retreated as well today by EGP 1.2 billion to reach EGP 384.7 billion.

The main index had inched up during the first 15 minutes of trading by 0.28 per cent.

Since the start of the year, Egypt's stock market has been affected by global oil prices, which have dramatically fallen over the past year and a half amid oversupply. EGX 30 has fallen by 17.87 per cent since the start of trading this year.
