CAIRO- Sept 25 (Aswat Masriya) –  Sexual harassment crimes “didn’t disappear”, despite the deployment of security forces to face crimes of sexual violence against women, said anti-sexual harassment initiative “I Saw Harassment” on Friday.

“I Saw Harassment” reported 87 cases of harassment on the first day of Eid in Cairo’s Downtown area, 78 of which were verbal cases and the remaining 9 physical.

The initiative said in a statement that the number of people going out in Eid al-Adha holiday were low on the first day when people are usually occupied with religious rituals and because of the soaring tempretaures.

However, this didn’t impact the number of harassment incidents.

The group complained that security presence is low during the day and is more visible after sunset when the weather improves.
