Senior Brotherhood figures to stand trial for inciting violence

CAIRO, Dec 8 (Aswat Masriya) An Egyptian prosecutor referred top Muslim Brotherhood figures to trial on charges of inciting violence and blocking a road on Sunday.

The defendants include Brotherhood's Supreme Guide Mohamed Badie, its senior leader Mohamed al-Beltagi, former Supply Minister Bassem Ouda and former Sports Minister Osama Yassin, who also hail from the group.

Clashes have erupted across the country following the military's ouster of Islamist President Mohamed Mursi after mass protests against his rule. In this specific incident two people were killed and thirty we injured during violent confrontations in Qaliubiya.

The authorities accused the defendants of belonging to a banned group, obstructing traffic, vandalizing public property, possessing weapons and disturbing public order.
