President grants director Mohamed Khan Egyptian citizenship

CAIRO, March 19 (Aswat Masriya) Interim President Adli Mansour issued a decree on Wednesday, granting director Mohamed Khan, 71, the Egyptian citizenship, the state news agency said. 

The presidency's spokesman said that the decision to grant Khan the citizenship is in accordance with Article 5 of the constitution and upon request made by the interior minister. 

Khan, a British citizen, is of Pakistani origin, but was born in Cairo on October 26, 1942. 

Many of Khan's films are considered "classics" in Egypt and include some of the country's top admired stars like Ahmed Zaky. 

The citizenship decision came after negotiations with top artists and intellects.
