SCAF meets with political parties, some boycott

Egypt’s ruling Supreme Council of Armed Forces (SCAF), headed by Field Marshal Mohamed Hussein Tantawi, met with representatives of 18 political parties on Tuesday.

Representatives from Al-Nour, Al-Wafd, Al-Masryeen Al-Ahrrar, Building and Development, Al-Karama, Al-Horreya, Al-Tagmoa, Egyptian Citizens, Al-Asala, Misr Al-Hadeetha, Al-Ithad, Arab Socialist, Al-Adl, Al-Salam Al-Democrati, Al-Masri Al-Arabi, Al-Geel and the Democratic Front attended the meeting.

Four independent Members of Parliament also attended the meeting; Mostafa Bakry, Marian Kamal, Yasser Al-Qadi and Mohamed Abu Hamid.

Top army commanders, including Sami Anan, and others members of the ruling military council, attended the meeting.  

Meanwhile, the Muslim Brotherhood’s Freedom and Justice Party, who controls the largest bloc in parliament, and Al-Wasat Party boycotted the meeting, the Middle East News Agency reported.
