CAIRO, Jun 28 (Aswat Masriya) - A presidential decree stipulating a raise in pensions for retired military personnel by 10 percent was published in Egypt's official Gazette on Sunday, the state news agency reported.

There will be no minimum or maximum caps on the increase and for all purposes the increase will be considered part of the pension itself.

The raise will come into effect starting July, which will mark the beginning of a new fiscal year.

The decree, issued by President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi saw the amendment of the law on military retirement and pensions.

This comes one day after the minister of social solidarity said Sisi issued a 10 percent raise in social pension, also effective starting July.

This is the biggest percentage that could currently be borne by the budget, the minister said.

Egypt's cabinet approved on June 18 a draft of the state budget for the new fiscal year 2015/2016, with a deficit of 9.9 percent of the gross domestic product.

The budget awaits the president's approval before coming into effect.
