CAIRO, Feb 9 (Aswat Masriya) - The Egyptian stock market's benchmark index EGX 30 fell by 2.52 per cent after one hour of trading on Tuesday, dropping from 6,175 points to 6,019.

Both the index for small and medium enterprises EGX 70 and the broader EGX 100 have made sharp fluctuations. While EGX 70 inched up by 0.1 per cent after an hour of trading, EGX 100 retreated by 0.41 per cent, reversing a heavy dip at the start of trading.

Oil prices have dramatically fallen over the past year and a half with the global market flooded with supply, and Egypt's stock exchange has been hit hard by the instability.

EGX 30 has fallen by over 14 per cent since the start of the year.
