CAIRO, Oct 22 (Aswat Masriya) - A supreme state security court sentenced on Wednesday nine defendants to life imprisonment on charges of "planning to commit terrorist operations against vital state installations."

The court sentenced four other defendants to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment.

The state security prosecution accused the defendants in February of receiving foreign funds, possessing weapons and high explosives, carrying out terrorist acts inside Egypt and abroad and seeking to overthrow the government in order to form an Islamic emirate.

They were also accused of planning to assassinate public figures.
