A complementary constitutional declaration may be issued after Egypt's presidential election, scheduled for 23 - 24 May, not before, as suggested, said a high ranking military source to London's Asharq Alawsat newspaper.
Al-Jazeera had reported that Egypt's ruling military council intends to issue a complementary constitutional declaration before the elections, but Lieutenant General Sami Anan, deputy head of the Supreme Council of Armed Forces, denied the report.
If the election is decided from the first round, the constitutional declaration will be issued stating the authorities of the elected president, the source added.
All political forces will participate in the drafting of this declaration but it will not be put to referendum as it is only temporary, confirmed the source.
