Egypt’s Prime Minister, Hisham Kandil, said on Tuesday that the cabinet reshuffle “will be of technocrats, not businessmen.”

The prime minister said that the new ministers will be chosen on the basis of the required competence for confronting the current challenges.

Kandil said in a statement that the reshuffle will be announced "very soon", pointing out that the new amendment “does not impede the current government for its performance,” reported the Middle East News Agency.

He added that there are ongoing consultations over the matter with the president, denying the existence of any dispute on the ministerial adjustments with the presidency.

The president had commissioned Kandil to make the necessary cabinet change following the adoption of the new constitution.

The reshuffle will involve the ministries of transportation, communications, electricity, legal affairs, finance, local development, agriculture and supply.

Kandil is currently reviewing the resumes of a number of candidates nominated for ministerial posts, cabinet spokesman Alaa al-Hadidi said.
