Egypt’s Interior Ministry will allocate security patrols across the region in an attempt to enhance efforts to confront the increasing cases of sexual harassment.

Surveillance cameras will be installed and security patrols will be appointed across the country to guarantee the immediate capture of sexual offenders, said Egypt’s National Council for Women.

Female specialist officers and social researchers will be appointed in different police departments to provide an appropriate atmosphere during investigations with women in sensitive cases.

The Ministry of Interior has established a sector for human rights to coordinate with civil society groups and educate police officers and personnel on civil rights.

Chairwoman of the National Council for Women, Mervat al-Talawy, had met with the Interior Minister and asked for harsher efforts to protect women from sexual harassment.
