CAIRO, Dec 3 (Aswat Masriya) Egypt’s National Council for Women has formed teams across the country to raise awareness on the amended constitution and encourage women to participate in the upcoming constitutional referendum. 

The council said in a statement on Tuesday that it plans to hold meetings with women to discuss the amendments, starting with ones in Gharibya, Sharqiya and Dakahliya on Wednesday. 

Head of the council, Mervat al-Talawy, has called on Egyptian women to vote for the draft constitution that a 50-member assembly, in which she was a member of, finished working on earlier this week. 

According to the council, about 23 million Egyptian women are eligible to vote.
