Ex-contender Hamdeen Sabahi will not support Brotherhood candidate Mohamed Mursi or ex-prime minister Ahmed Shafiq in the runoff of Egypt’s presidential election. Sabahi stated he refuses imposing religion-based autocracy on Egypt or reproducing Mubarak’s regime.

While meeting with a number of national figures and revolutionary candidates, Sabahi called for creating a revolutionary civil national bloc that works on achieving the January 25 revolution’s goals.

In a statement obtained by Aswat Masriya, Sabahi stressed the need for a national consensus on forming a constituent assembly and drafting its articles.

Sabahi welcomed coordination among campaigns of ex-contenders backing the revolution to expose the irregularities and violations which affected the electoral process.
