Final ballot results show that in Matrouh 91.7 percent (70, 237 people) have voted for the new draft constitution while 8.3 percent (6, 393) have voted against it.

The total number of votes in the governorate was 77, 493 from the 212, 495 eligible voters.

The second round of the referendum on Egypt's new constitution took place on Saturday, December 22, whereas the first round took place last Saturday.

Preliminary results of the two-stage referendum show that the majority of Egyptians agree to the controversial charter that was written by an Islamist-dominated assembly.
